Continuing his walk around the

his way to Seattle where he takes

He was started out by the Ft. Scott

for Portland and from there will go
to Seattle before sailing.
Telling of his experiences thus far,
Mr. White said In Baker yesterday:

Few times in Mr. Alton's life will
he be more surprised than he was
last evening when he met face to face
a group of Hot Lake people at the
Foley hotel. He had left the same
parties waiting at the depot at the
Lake, and supposed he would be the
only one to nJoy the ball last night
because an annuled passenger train
was announced .which means th r-j
would be no means of transportation
from the Lake to La Grande In time
for the dansce. At 1 ast Mr. Alton
thought that was what it meant and
he "hiked" across the country. He had
been in La Grande but a few min
utes when a friendly freight train
came lumbering, along and picked up
th ' remainder of the party bringing
them to this city.
