Penington thought they were in the tolls of the law this afternoon when they were "arrested" charged with violating Ordinance No. 263, which specifically forbids playing baseball on the streets. The men were enjoying themselves at the national past time In front, of Tony & Scran- ton's store when the "arrest" was formulated by ! friends and the two prisoners were marched to the chief of police's office and then released on their , own cognizance. The two have been buiying clgards ever since. An ordinance authorizing the May or and Recorder to enter into a con tract on behalf of the city of" La Grande tor the construction of a tool house and to affix the corporate name and seal of the, city thereto. The City of La Grande does ordain as follows: ' , Sec 1, The Mayor and Recorder of the City of La Grande, are hereby authorized to enter , into a contract with Hisner & Robinson for the con struction of a tool house for the city ; Helsner & Robinson to furnish all the labor and material and to construct the same according to the plans and specifications now on file with the Recorder of the City of La Grande for the sum of". Three Hundred and Forty ($340.00) Dollars, payable at the completion of said building in general fund warrants of the City ot La. Grande.
