mela has one foot of snow and more
is falling, and good sleighing is be
ing engaged in here.
Mr. Allen of La Grande, our teach
er here, has been home the past week
on account of sickness, but will be
on duty again this week.
Mr. John Thompson has moved to
Kamela from, his homestead, to send
his children to (jchool this winter,
II. K. Charlton of this place has
moved his family to La Grande. He
is going to remain in Kamela for the
winter. .

Good Wood Scarce.
Mr. Millar, proprietor of the State
hotel at Walla Walla was a visitor
here last week. He was trying to buy
wood to start a wood yaru at Walla
Walla, but he could not find enough
wood of first grade, quality: to Btart1
business on hand has returned home
somewhat disappointed. . - ;

of, Adams avenue,, from the west line
of Fourth street to the east curb line
of Third street, being in improvement
district No. 1, in "the City of La
Grande, Oregou, under the provisions
of Ordinance Ho. 492. Series 1910, en
titled "An Ordinance declaring the
cost of Improving Adams avenue from
the west line of Fourth street to the
east curb line of Third street, assess
ing the property benefitted thereby,
declaring such assessment and direct
ing the entry of the , same on the
Docket of City Liens, authorizing the
issuance of improvement bonds to pay
for said improvement and declaring
an emergency," the same being in Im
provement district No. 1, in said City,
is now in my Iiands for collection and
that any assessment therein may be
paid to me at any time within sixty
days from November 2lBt, J910, which
is the first date of the publication of
this notice, without penalty, Interest
or cost; and each property owner is
notified that on application to the un
dersigned wthia ten. days from the
21st day of Nov mber, 1910. which is
thw date of the first publication of
this notice he will be allowed to pay
such assessment in ten annual install
