Trials of two alleged murderera, T. R. Ellexson, accused of the murder of Waldo Perry at Union, and Jesse Parker, who shot his father-in-law at Elgin last summer, will not mater- lalize at this term but will . be car ried over until December. With the trial of an Austrian accused of as sault, the present October term of the circuit court is nearlng the end and the court will transfer to Wallowa county and conduct the regular fall term of court at Enterprise. There is not sufficient time available to hear these cases now and open court on time In Wallowa. Consequently the two important trials will have to wait over. ." Spcrooplols Is Gnllty. , The Jury hearing; the case of the state against Sperouplois charged with robbing the Greek restaurant on Depot street of some $350, return ed a -verdict of guilty last night and the man will be sentenced next Wed nesday at 10 o'clock. Back from a tour across the con tinent, visiting at Atlanta, Ga., as grand representative from Oregon to the soverign grand lodge of Odd Fel lows at that place and later attending the United States Bankers' conven tion at Los Angeles, II. E. Coolidge, past grand master of Odd Fellows In Oregon, arrived home today after hav ing been gone about one month. Mrs. Coolidge accompanied him. .While at the Odd Fellow conclave he was placed on several Important committees, and reports that the oth er three delegates from Oregon were also recognized on committee work. At the conclusion of the soverign lodge Mr. and Mrs. Coolidge went to San Antonio, Texas, as special guests with Deputy Grand Master Kellar, and attended a reception in Mr. Cellar's honor at that town. At Los Angeles Mr. Coolidge attended the money Jlngler's convention and from there hurried home, completing the loop that first took him to Chica go, New Tork and Washington and then down the Southern route. Mr. Collldge holds office as sover ign grand lodge representative for two years and hence Is entitled to at tend the grand lodge at Indianapolis next year. Roosevelt In St Loots. v St. Louis, Oct 11 Col. Roosevelt arrived here this morning and will spend the most strenuous day of his trip, If the program arranged by the local committee Is adhered to. The Traffic Club and the Business Men's League have charge of the disting uished guest and will set him a merry pace. A breakfast at the St. Louis Club arranged by the Traffic club, started the' day. The Business Men's League will act as host at two meals, a 'pub lic luncheon and a dinner. Col. Roose velt: Is expected to make a few re marks after each feed, but his most important address will be delivered to night at the Coliseum and Is expected to deal with political topics. Drives about the city and a visit to the avi ation meet will occupy the time of the visiting" party between eating and talking. Suspect Arrested. Tuscon, Ariz., Oct. 11 Ollle Collls. whom the police say answers closely a description of the man who gave the rame J. B. Bryson when he obtained dynamite from the Giant Powder com pany is held here pending the arrival of an officer from Lob Angeles. Collls was arrested on advices from Los Angeles. Hlgley arrived this morning from Portland and Is stopping at the Foley, Mr. Hlgley is one of the fore men at the new 0. R. & N. shops. H. H. Huff of Elgin and H. H. Weatherspoon, another prominent resi dent of Elgin, were last night visi tors in the city, stopping at the Som mer while here. General Goodbrod of Union has just returned from a visit to New York, and is in the city attending the fair. He was gone several weeks and visit ed all the cities of Interest on the At-' lantlc seaboard. Jerry McKInzIe, business manager for the Pendleton Tribune under Fx Governor Geer, but now a magistrate at Hermlston and head bookkeeper for the Newport Construction Co., is in the city today transacting business. F. E. Cook, who for the past two years has been employed in one of the leading real estate offices in Corvallis, Oregon, has accepted a position in the George JI. Currey Real Estate Agency. Mr. Cook comes highly recommended. Dr. W. S. MacMlllan leaves this ev ening for Portland where" he will at tend a meeting of Oregon chautauqua managers. At that time the coming Chautauqua programs will be discuss ed and representatives from various bureaus will be on hand. This is an Important gathering to Oregon chau tauquas. Doctor Whiting and Henry Bader of Elgin left yesterday for Carson on the Grande Ronde river to look over the Seven Nations mines of which they are, heavy stockholders. The mines look very promising after the . rich strike a few days ago that the manage ment may decide to invest very heav ily In the proposition as the ore seems to Indicate it to be one of the big mines in Oregon. It is quite possible that the de fense will deny that the remains found were human, since even on this point, the scientists have not posi tively agreed. The relations between Dr. Crlppen and Miss Leneve will be gone into ful ly by the attorneys for the Crown.
