Many Others Will be Recruited.
L. E. McNabb, manager for the dis
trict of Eastern Oregon, has estab
lished headquarters at 1107 1-2 in the
Foley block and will organize a
homeBtead of the Brotherhood of
American Yeomen. Mr. McNabb Is an
old-tfme deputy and expects to have
a homestead of seventy-fire or 100 by
the 15th of November. There are a
number of Yeomen in La Grande but
there is no homestead here and the
present members of the order await
perfection of the lodge home.' .
In speaking of the lodge Mr. Mc
Nabb said' this morning:
"The Brotherhood of American Yeo
men Issues a combined life and acci
dent certificate to men and women
alike, making it possible for a family
to join the same lodge, attend all its
meetings, and equally participate in
benefits of the society. :
"It is purely' representative in Its
government. The society holds Its
charter and is organized under, the
law nf Inw wtina lnnrnf t-
tutes are recognized as being the best
laws In "existence for the protection
of policy holders. '
"The society has a reserve fund
which may be drawn upon to pay
death losses in excess of six for each
thousand benefit mtmbers in , good
standing in any one ytar, thus guar
anteeing a low cost to its members. .
"It issues a splendid, newsy, month-1
ly magazine, which goes to each mem
ber free, and in which all official
transactions of supreme officers are
given, and matters of interest are
printed. ' .
"It levies twelve assessments each
year, and issues certificates for $500,-
11,000,; $2,000 and $3,000. .
"Dont you know that accidents are
constantly increasing? This strenuous
life and age is the cause of this in
crease. Should you be unfortunate and
meet with an accident the Y?omen so
ciety comes to your aid when you
need It most."
