Ladd Canyon, Aug. 30. Special.
No report has been learned regarding
the fire In Ladd Canyon, but it Is pre
sumed that the shower which visited
us here last night, though small, but
hard while It lasted, had considerable
effect on the blaze. " .
The forest fires, which have beenj
raging on the mountains In the Mrs.
LI E. Shambaugh, T. F. Sherwood, and
other timbers, about four miles from
Ladd Canyon, are scarcely smoulder
ing today as a result of last night's
showers. Large, hot cinders were
carried over here with the wind, and
It is supposed that is the way the fire
originated in Ladd Canyon.

WALTER JOHNSON NEVER
PLAYED IN A MINOR
LEAGUE.
,6
The average baseball pltcW,
has at least two or three yenrs
of minor league experience be
fore he attempts to make good
iu a major league. This 13 be
cause his natural ability is not
sufficient to win games for him
when with the big fellows, and
he must learu the strategy of
the game, so that he can rely
on it to help him out.
Walter Johnson of the "Wash
ington Americans Is the one ex
ception to this rule. He nerer
played In a minor league and In
fact never went through the
primer grade of baseball. He
jumped. right into fast company,
and, unli'.fe any other 'unseason
ed you :r-!.;r. made good ris'.it
from the jump.' This more than
anything else proves his won
derful ability.
A Filthy Condition.
Many a man, otherwise scrupulous
ly ck-an, is dandruff dirty. The small
persistent germs of dandruff, working
night and day, are constantly tnrow
lng off the small, white dandruff
scales, whichfalling on the on the
shoulders of a coat, gives, it a filthy
appearance, and Is repulsive.
Many men allow this condition to
eelst because they believe there is no
cure for dandruff; they have tried
Various so-called cures with unsatis
factory results, and naturally con
demn all.
They have never heard that one of
the world's leading scientists has dis
covered a certain formula that has
cured thousands upon thousands' of
the most chronic cases of dandruff In
anywhere from six days to two weeks.
This famous prescription is called
Parisian Sage, and is now put up in
America, but only by the Giroux Mfg.
Co., of Buffalo, N. Y. It Is for sale In
