federal court, says a Portland pa
per. At the same time Judge Wol
verton signed an order restraining
Thomson from disposing of any of his,
property pending his appearance be
fore the court
The action is the outcome of a suit
brought by Walter Niedner, receiver
of the Farmers and Traders National
bank of La Grande, which suit grew
out of the conduct of the bank by J.
W. Scrlber, recently convicted in this
fedeal court
Today George R. Blddle filed an afr
fidavlt in the United States court set
ting out as his belief that Thomson
had sufficient property subject to exe
cution to pay the Judgment. Based on
this the attorneys for Niedner asked
the court to order Thomson to appear

Honorable James Wyngate. "Jim",
(as he Is affectionately termed), re
solves to sacrifice himself, not so
much for the "family name", but be
cause of his love for Sir Henry's wife,
"Lady Diane." So he resigns from his
regiment, goes to America, purchases
a ranch In Wyoming. '
The second act finds him with Ws
cow punchers in a bar room at Mav
erick, Wyoming.' Lady. Diane, with a
party of 'English friends Is touring the
country. There has been a wreck on
the line and their private car has If en
sidetracked at Maverick. Lady Diane
meets "Jim"; tefls tym she has learned
of the sacrifice he has made for her
husband and goes away.
"Cash" Hawkins, typical bad man,
hates Jim and attempts to shoot him,
but is himself shot down by an Indian
girl, Naturlche. Isolated and. exiled
from all he really loves and cares for,
Jim, weay of lonely struggle, accepts
the love and devotion of Naturlche
and marries her. Hence the title of
"The Squaw Man." X .
; The third and fourth acts are years
later. ' Sir John, a friend of the fam
ily, comes with Lady Diane to the
ranch, all the way from England, to
inform Jim that Sir Henry , is now
lead and that he, Jim, is now the head
if the Wyngate family, that, he must
jeturn to England to take up all that
Ills rank and position demand. Crazed
ilmost with Joy at his escape from

present surroundings, Jim Is boyishly
eager, telling all what he will do on
his return to London, when his boy

the killing to Naturlche. He stops
Sir John. Lady Diane and the child,
and brings them back to the ranch
to hold Sir John and Lady Diane; as
witnesses, as they were at Maverica
the day of the shooting. He. demands
Naturlche's little .22 revolver and
on Jim's shack, when a shot is heard
and "Tabbywana," Naturlche's father,
comes in with her dead, body in his
arms, and the curtain falls on oife of
the most beautifully Impressive pic
tures. :
