Two North Yakima youths aged
about twenty years, are in the tolls
of the law this afternoon, having been
arrested at the head of Whisky Creek
last night by Constable Faulk, follow
ing allegations of forgery. The mpys
were brought to La Grande this morn
ing, and one of them named Edwards,
was bound over to the grand jury) and
the other, a fellow who gives hl
name as McCarthy, will be given a
hearing this afternoon. ' ..
The alleged forgeries involve the
names of Nils Holverson at Hilgard,
and S. F. Richardson, representative
from Union county. One check read
ing for $125 is made out against a
North Yakima resident and is signed
by a name not known here. The
Holverson check is for a small amount
and one of the go-called Richardson
checks reads (or $25 and another for
a 'smaller amount. One alleged bad
check was cashed by Hotel Proprietor
Porter at Hilgard.
The arrests were made on informa
tion from North Yakima where the
bad checks showed up. The other al
leged forgeries were found on their
person, along With a little cash,
The arrests followed a long chase
up through the mountainous districts
out from Hilgard, and a guide, with
the constable, had a long and ardor-
our trip before overtaking the boys
In camp where they were snatching a
brief rest.
