Calloi to Bother's Bedside.
C. It Hibbard, one of the . large
property owner of the valley, started
for Nebraska last evening: In answer
to a message stating that his mother
-was sot expected to live. He received
the telegram's few minutes too late
to catch the train yesterday morning.
Mr. Hibbard's many friends here hope
that hia mother may recover her
health and save him that bitterest
of all griefs parting with mother.
Still Believes lo the Grande Sonde.
yt. L. Fugate of Walla Walla was
here yesterday, on business and made
the Observer a sliort visit. Twenty
years ago Mr. Fugate lived in this val-
, ley and was forced to leave on ac
onnt of his family's health. , He has
sever lost sight of the splendid re
. sources here, however, and announced
yesterday that he, was a . thorough
Grande Ronde advocate. . It Is quite
probable that the, Fugate family may
locate here permanently soon.
