The celebration of America's Independence day results yearly In
many being killed or maimed and In the destruction of thousands of
dollars worth of property. In recent years the "sane" plan has been
tried effectively by several communities. This year a country wide
campaign for a safer Fourth Is In progress.

I know I used
to load ilp an old
musket, just cram it full of pow
der, then lay a train to it, set fire
to the fuse and -run with the rest
just as hard as I could until it
went off. Yes, we used to make
up our own fireworks.
Of course a regular program ar
ranged for the celebration of the
day in an orderly and safe manner
ia a good thing. But' at the same
time I would like to see plenty of
fireworks exploded under safe reg
ulations, i
