FarQuharsou's case, was brought be
fore Judge Knowles on a writ of re
view from the order the City Recor
der, D.: El Cox, sending Farquharson
to the city jail because he refused to
pay a fine of $50 imposed when con
victed some months ago of selling
liquor. The . liquor confiscated at the
time of the arrest was - destroyed,
when the defendant was arrested a
short time ago. Among' the points
raised by Attorney Hyde of Baker
City, counsel for the defendant, the
Invalidity of the passing of the or
dinance revoking , the right to sell
liquors was one. Another was that
the inactlng clause of the ordinance
if; invalid, that the defendant should
have bad a hearing before the li
quor was destroyed. .There will not
likely be a decision, in the case to
