A good number of music loving
people of La Grande are planning to
go to Baker City on March '9th to
hear Madame, Schuman-Helnk, who
will appear there on that date.
Governor, and Mrs. . Frank Benson
passed through La Grande today en
route to Baker CItyfl ' Tbey will re
turn tomorrow night to be the guests
of the George Carpy family. Gov.
Benson and Mrs. Carpy are brother
and sister.
Misses Hazel Nolan and Inez Hill
of Pendleton, are guests with Mr.
and Mrs. A. T. Hill of this city. Misses
Nolan and HIU are familiar to local
basketball, for they were leading
members of the Pendleton high school
team two years ago.
Junius Chenault, a citizen of North
Powder, but who has been spending
the winter In Portland on account
of the hellth of his wlft, came to La
Grande this morning to visit with
hlSj brother, Emmet Chenault, for a
few- days. Mr., Chenault reports his
mother, Mrs. W. Chenault, who has
been In the Portlnad hospital for the
past several months, to be doing

complete recovery.
