Passed bad Checks. '
Sheriff Marvin went to Mjnam Sun
day and arrested one Frank ' Mays,
accused of passing bad checks. He
was brought up on the afternoon
train and, lodged in Jail.
Mays has been working In various
logging, camps and coming to Wal
lowa for his sprees, in the course of
which the bad paper was given. He
is alleged to have induced A. J. Pipes
to cash two checks, and Wolfe Bros ,
cue check, all amounting to $33. The
postmaster at Minam also cashed two
for $10 each. ,. - . j
Three of the checks were on the
Laldlow Savings Bank and Trust
Company" and two on V Minnesota
bank. The checks were signed P. H.
Marlon. . ' . .v. .
Coming up on the . train" Sunday,
ihe man told Sheriff Marvin that his
name was Frank Mays. Afterwards
h said F. H. Clarion was his wife's
r.nme and that he was authorlxed to
