TWO HOCKED AD THIRTY COL
LARS CLEARED LAST NIGHT
City's Appreciation for Firemen Ex
cmpllfled by Support
That La Grande appreciates the ef
ficiency of the La Grande Fire De
partment is evident from the flatter
ing monetary success which attend
ed the annual hH ! r'jbt. There !
are now In the coffers of the organi
zation $230. which stand for the clear
profits of the dance. This Is much
larger than the proceeds of last years
ball. Of course many of the tickets
sold were purchased out of loyalty
alone. The attendance wae - large
enough to be representative of the
city. - .. r ...
Some, like Mrs. Zuber, purchased
j ten tickets. Mrs. Zuber, out of ap-
preciation for the recent help Riven
her durijg a fire in one of her cot-
tagea, has proailned to purcliaee ten
tickets in addition to those already
taken up .

tended to deals for 1310 machines.
