The Northwest delegation to the
Advisory Council ori Church Exten
sion of the Presbyterian church of tht
United States, held In New York City,
returned yesterday via the extreme
southern . route through New Mexico
and California. Dr. 8. W. Seemann of
this city was Oregon's repi esentatlvi
while Dr. Wilson of Seattle went
from Washington and Rev. J. H. Bar
ton formerly of Union, went from tht
state of Idaho. , .
In the opinion of Dr. Thompson,
chairman of the home board, the meet
Ing marked an epoch in the work of
the Presbyterian cnurch. The coun
cellors felt especially ' enthusiastic
over the work owing to the recent be
quest of $13,000,000 from John Stew
art Kennedy of New York City. Over
$7,000,000 of thl z"" ts tie r.w.
terian boards.
" One of the ends toward which the
church is working is a self support
ing synod. Each state synod is mak
ing an, effort to look after the work
of the church extension within Its
pwn borders.
; Dr, Seemann reports a fine trip In
which he enjoyed, himself and gained
new Inspiration and encouragement
fn the future of the church. iHU. It
