A very pleasant and profitable tlr-'e
was spent yesterday afternoon at the
iome of Mrs. J. w. Bubo, la which the
Home Missionary 'society, c tue
Methodist church served a ten crt
tea. The work of this society includes !
all benevolence near at hand and ex
tends only to the borders of the Unit
ed States. The next meeting will be
held at he home of Mrs. F. II. Green
whn a Thanksgiving offenn,i will be
reeclved not only from the members
but from any one who may 60 desire
to contribute to this line of work.
The meeting of the Women's Foreign
Missionary Society of the Baptist
church held on Wednesday at the home
of Mrs. Brusel in Frultdale was the
banner meeting of the year. Over 30
members and their friends being pres
ent, After an interesting program on
missionary subjects the boBtess led
the guests to the dining room whoro
two long lables were filled with tbv
season's dainties.
A miscellaneous shower was given
to Miss Gertrude Ralston last even
ing at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. W.
Nelson by Misses Ethel Gulling end
Frances Masse, with nearly a score
present. Afttr the many useful and ap
propriate presents hnd been dul.' pre
sented to the bride-to-be. the guests
came face to face with h practical and
amusing contest, in that each guest
was asked to he ma tea towel in n
half hour, workmanship to be consid
ered in the award of prizes. Miss Etta
Foley won the distinction. Refresh
ments consisting of a two-course lun
cheon was served by th hostesses.
