Buying a Lawsuit
Did you know that placing your re
liance upon a warranty deed is simply
bidding for a lawsuit?
In California this fact Is so well un
derstood that a warranty deed Is look
ed upon with suspicion.
It is for this reason:
If the title is good It passes with the
deed, and that Is all there is to it
no needof a warranty. If bad, the ad
ding of a warranty does not make it
good.
A warranty Is only a sort of a bet
a wager that you will have no trouble;
but If you do, and finally lose out, I'll
pay you your money back.
A better plan is to require an ab
stract on't go t olaw, consult J. R.
Oliver.

. . That the Umatilla Railway & Elec
..c Company will develop an electric
power on the John Day river and i
build an electric line from Dale to
Pendleton and from this place to the
Columbia, provided that proper sup
port Is given the enterprise, is' now
announced by the officers of that com
pany. A statement to this effect was
made to the East Oregonian today by
Douglas Belts, president; George Ar
thur Brown, vice-president, and A. R.
Turner, secretary of the company,
says the Pendleton E. O..
At this time all three gentlemen are
in the city consulting with the busi
ness men and others regarding , the
