said that he looked for no weather

Will Lay Corner Stone.
Haker City. Oct. 20. The Herald of
today says: "The laying of the corner
stone of the new postofflce in this
city will take place Friday afternoon
at the new building, corner of Dewey
and Auburn. At this time several art
icles of greater or less value and tell
ing of Baker City and Baker county
will be rlaced in the receptacle to
remain until the biuliding is torn
down to give way to a larger struc
ture. It may be that a history of the
movement to secure the new building
will be one of the articles to be plac
ed ln the safe keeping of the corner
stone.
The ceremonies attendant uiion the
laying of the corner stone will be
very simple .althuogh it is expected
that several addresses by prominent
citizens will be made. Several people
have worked hard to secure the new
postomce and it is only right that they
should be asked to address tho peo
ple on the great occasion.
