Tonight at midnight the j new Echedule providing for one fast i mail train goes into effect No. 11 now runinng as a local train arriv ing in the morning, has been chosen to carry the west mall from Green River to Portland and while provis ions have been made for a fast mall westbound, no such arrangements ex ist for eastbound mall, according to the official time table which is Just out No. 10 arriving here at 10:40 a. m., will carry In addition to its reg ular passenger ' loads the mall cars which No. 11 takes west. In this way the accumulation of the mail cars In 1 Portland la Avoided. Remarkable fast time Is outlined for the fast mall train. It will arrive In La Grande at 10:50 p. m. and will leave immed iately. It will reach Portland ; at 7:50 the next morning. This will beat the fastest time ever scheduled on the O. R. & N. , Train No. 12, the twin of the pres ent No. 11, has been annulled. Trains o .1 and 2 are new ones, but they only run between Portland and Pen dleton. No change. : Official Joseph Schedule. According to the new time table to become effective on the Joseph branch tomorrow, the Joseph train will ar rive in La Grande at 2:15 p. m. The new departing time from La Grande at 2:15 p. m. The new departing time time from La Grande is 9:45, planning to reach Joseph at 4 o'clock p. m.
