Eminent Commander Russell and family de parted in one auto for Baker City to day and J. E. Reynolds and' family 1.- another party to make the trip by auto. Before tomorrow noon several auto parties will have taken their de parture for the Journey to the haven of Shrlners and Knight Templars. The grand lodge convenes tomorrow at 10 o'clock, and it is the intent of the many who are going from here to take the trip with the special train which will pass through here tomorrow mor ning from Portland .carrying the Al Kader Shrine members. MISTER IS (OIK The Rev. T. M. Canfield of Baker City, has been assigned to the La Grande South Methodist church by the conference of this district, which has just closed its session at Spokane. The Rev. Mr. Canfield will be on hand at once to take up his work. The Rev. A. L. Thoroughman, who for the past four year3 has been the influential pastor of the Walla Walla church, was made presiding elder of the Spokane district. The piers of the Oro Dell bridge will be completed by tomorrow easily. Or ders for the steel spans have teen delayed by the shippers and will not arrive until about October 13. Long before that time all will be In readi ness for putting the spans so it is as sured that the bridge will be ready for use shortly after that date. The work above the bridge which was started about a year ago will be completed in a few days. When this is done the channel of the river will have been straightened and all tho bridges that were washed out will have been replaced. Special Portland Rate.
