The arrival of 18 new football suits
will prove a decided stimulus to foot
ball enthusiasm at the high school to
day. The new shipment of moleskinC
arrived at Van Buren's last evening,
and will be taken to the school by
Manager Ingles today.
The new outfits make it possible for
over 30 players to be on the field in
full uniform. In addition to the suits
already on hand the new consignment
will add 18 pairs of pants with jerseys,
and a number of nose guards and pairs
of shoes. The suits are padded in
regular style and are the Bame as
those already in possession of the
players. The goods came from the
Spaulding company.
The football season will be ushered
in by a game with Union at Union,
October 2. The game scheduled with
the Enterprise team for next Saturday
has been called off for the present
time with a hope of arranging a date
on Wallowa Day.
The date for the game with the En
terprise team is causing considerable
anxiety in football and fair circles.
The problem of avoiding a conflict may
be solved if the school authorities can
be prevailed upon to allow the stu
dents an hour from studies Just be
fore noon, so the game can be played
Immediately after the arrival of the
special train. The special will arrive
about 10:30 and the game could be
c alled at 11. The manager and coach
of the football team do not desire to
Interfere with the fair and the fair
committee is anxious to co-operate
with the football Interests as the game
will bring many additional people
from Wallowa county.
Itazaar Dates Set.
The Harvest Eazaar to be given by
the Riverside Park association will be
held In the auditorium of the Elks'
hall, October 14-15-16.

Grande, Oregon, on the 5th day of
August, 1909, creating improvement
District No. 2, and designating Third
street, as such district, and in pursu
ance of a resolution adopted by said
Common Council on the 1st day of ,
September, 1909, whereby said Coun
cil determined and declared its inten
tion to improve all that portion at
Third street, in said improvement dis
trict as hereinafter described, by
building a 5-foot board sidewalk theri-
on, the Council will, ten days after
the service of this notice upon the
owners of the property affected and
benefited by such Improvement, or
der that said above described Im
provement be made; that the bouod
rles of said district to be so Improved
are as follows: All the west side r.f
Third street, from the north side of
"C" avenue, to the south side of "K"
avenue. Notice Is hereby further gi
ven that the Council will levy a spe
cial assessment on all the property
affected and benefited by such im
