society, wishes to announce that the
sounty fair will be held this year at
La Grande, beginning October 4th,
and lasting one week.
The new catalogue will be out. now
In a short time, the cause of the de
lay so far has been due to the effort
to get the Wallowa county people
to Join ub and combine the two fairs.
. Th'e new catalogue will be practic
ally the same as the old one, but with
- this exception, rran of ike premiums
have been raised and new features
added, and also' a large special list
-of premiums will be offered by the
business men of La Grande.

Jane Harris will be held at the home

members of the Epworth league of
the M. E. church. Miss Harriet Har
ris is going to "leave soon for Phila
delphia where Bhe will spend a year,
and Miss Jane leaves soon for Ellens
burg, Washington, to re-enter the nor
mal school there, and as both are
active members of the league, the
other members will seize an opportun
ity to hold an informal reception-social.

district No. 1, and designating Adams
avenue as said improvement district,
and declaring it to be the intention of

the west sldo of Hemlock street east
to the city limits by macadamizing the
same, the Common Council of the City
of La Grande, Oregon, intends to levy
special assessments on the property
included in the above described boun

above described, by macadamizing the
same, in accordance with the speci
fications made by the City Engineer
