The Jovial crowd from Denver took

A little precaution on the part of
our city and citizens in an effort to
clean up the city in preparation of
our gueHts, the Mormon choir and the
many visitors who will accompany
them. A little effort on the part of
all will muke quite a difference as to
the opinion these people will always
retain of La Grande. Pick up the
papers in the streets and lawns.
.' About the busiest men in this conn
try are those who are working for
the Union county exposition. This
tom?Uee Is meeting about three
nights out of every week, w ith several
afternoon sessions thrown In. It re
quires a vast amount of detail work
to bring about the results that are to
be obtained.
A nice well eqlpped depot set amidst
a beautiful green park would certain
ly be an improvement over mir pres
ent Accommodations and cinder path.
It would give the visitor a vastly dif
ferent impression of our city and
county as he steps from our trains.
This we understand Is one of the
near possibilities.

While we have so many vlltor3
let us reineuiber to forget formalities
and make It a portion of our city to
extend a hearty greeting. Nothing
costs so Mule and nothing has such
lasting efft-cts upon the stranger In a
strange land as to find I courteous,
opened hearted people who are loyal
boosters for their own country.
We will have no less than 500 visi
tors in our city Monday. If your
Joints need lubricating, get busy.
Don't staud around like a mummy,
show our guests that this country
produces big hearted people as well
as big crops.

Not a few of our residents last night

for a portion of their bed covering,
which they had discarded the few
previous nights.
