Foley of this city. The ladies of the visiting party are nelces of Mr. Foley. Mr. and Mrs. Hoolihan have been in La Grande before, as ihey were married some 15 years ago. They anticipate spending several weeks in La Grand -j. J. A. Holman of Island City and li s brother E. M. Holman of Utih, have returned from the Seattle fair. Mrs. A. Holman and family accompanied them. Mr. Holman and his party were visitors at the fair on Swedish dity. last Saturday, and enjoyed th? treat, of hearing Madame Oscar Halstnii the famous prima donna. Swedes ruled Seattle that day and the Hol mans got all the enjoyment coming to them. Mr. Holman speaks in glowing terms of Union county's exhibit at the fair and of the whole exposition. E. M. Holman will remain here a few days before returning to his home in Utah. W. W. Graham of Baker City, is In the city today. Mrs. E. E. Kramer, of Haines, Is visiting In the city today. Telephone company, left Saturday for his old home at Pontine, Mich., to be gone four or five months. He went by way of Spokane where he will register for the land drawings. A road petition today was the chief mat ters of Interest from a public stand point, as the public cares but little for routine allowance of minor and regular bills. L. Stillwell et al, are the petitioners and want a road through the Al. Good farm and north through others. Art on Jail Friday. Former students of the Oregon Agri cultural college to the number of 15 met at Wallowa lake, Friday night, enjoyed a short program and a social time together, and organized the Wal lowa county O. A. C. club.. The of- fleers chosen were Ed Tulley, of Wal lowa, president; S. L. Burnaugh, of Enterprise, corresponding secretary; Ada Lay, of Joseph, recording secre tary and treasurer. The club is to meet at the lake on July 16 of each year. Enterprise News Record. Tonight will see the last perform ant e of the clever play, "The Phoenix" by the stock company at the Pastime theatre. The play has proven one of the most pleasing ones yet presented. and indications point to a crowded house. Tomorrow night the same cast will be seen in the five act English pastoral d rama "Mable Heath." This Is recommended by the management as one of the most pleasing and artls tic dramatic performances ever pre sented here.
