Page Hawley who was injured at
Copper Creek by cowboys sometime
ago, and twice given up for lost, to
day noon was able to walk about his
room in the hospital, nd physicians
are firm in their belief that recovery
will be complete.
The Herald s aid yesterday:
Page Hawley was brought in from
Copperfield Saturday and placed in
the hospital, where he was operated
on last evening. The physicians open
ed the scalp and removed a bone the
size of a silver dollar, and clotted
blood sufllcient to fill an ordinary tea
cup was removed from his brain. At
a late hour this afternoon (Monday)
he was still alive but it Is claimed
he has small chance to live.

car strike was rendered more critical

The Riverside Park association held
a very Interesting session last night.
Mr. W. F. Chance of Portland, a
prominent landscape architect made
a proposition to the session, which
was accepted and he w ill come very
shortly to give an estimate on the
work required at the park. Mr.
Chance has just finished the plans
for Eugene's park which is considered
a fine piece of work. The Commercial
Club of Eugene recommended him
most heartily.
The harvest festival w as then taken
up and discussed in every detail. The
chairmen of several different com
mittees reported and the work is pro
gressing nicely.
The French cafe will serve soup
and salad and other French delicacies.
The Hub will serve beans and
brown bread In true Boston style.
The Holland dairy will sell butter,
butter milk and ice cream.
The Harvest booth will Bell the pro
duce contributed by the farmers. Only
two farmers have been solicited so
far and we have a roll of butter, half
a gallon of cream and a box of prunes
promised.
The chairman of these committees
will be announced later.
The sugar company have given the
park association a sack of sugar to be
used to make candy for tbe festival
and use at all park feeds. Everyone
is invited to help get up this festival
and make It a grand success, make an
apron or any other saleable article
for any booth or something for every
one. The White Elephant booth will sell
any article given it such as books,
vaBes, cushions, dishes or any other
thing that is pretty and useful and
still while you may not want it some
one elae will love to have it.
