who last spring pleased La' Grande
audiences, and who has had his com
pany at Walla Walla all summer, will
open a four of five weeks' engagement
at the Pastime theater next Monday
night. A few of the Pastime aggre
gation will remain, while others who
have been constantly at work for 18
months will take a needed rest. Cur
tiss is to bring his headliners here
and combine to make the finest reper
toire company that has held long en
gagements here in many years. Lack
of room in the auditorium will be the
chief difficulty.
It is not yet known whether Mr.
Curtlss will retain his company name,
or whether the company will be tem
porarily known as the Pastime Stock
Regardless of what the names, the
stuff handed out to the public will
be the same clean, high class attrac
tions for which Mr. Curtlss 1s re
nowned for. .

John Graham has returned from
Hot Lake where he had a large can
cer removed from' his neck. Dr. Phy
pronounces it to be one jof the worst
cancers he ever saw. Mr. Graham is
getting along as well as can be ex
pected. A steady rain visited us all day
yesterday and a portion of the night,
which is not welcomed by those who
have hay down and stacks unfinished.
Of course it is fine on gardens and
second crops of alfalfa.
Miss Ellen Stevens of La Grande,
visited over Saturday and Sunday with
friends.
Mrs. Adotph Peebler returned from
Cove Sunday, where she visited with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. B. John
son. Mrs. ifarvey Stansberry of La
Grande, is visiting friends here this
week.
, Miss Mabt'l Cotmsell expects to
spend next week in La Grande visiting
friends and relatives. .
