The famous Mormon Tabernacle
choir of Salt Lake City which la the
largest body of organized church fin

La Grande August 23, en route to
compete at the big eistedfort at the
A-Y-P. fair at Seattle. The possibili
ties are that the choir will stop over
id this city and gire a concert on the
evening of August 23rd.
George E. Carpenter, city editor of
the Deseret News, of Salt Lake, ar
rived in town thia morning ahead of
the choir and met with the members
of the Commercial club at 4 p. m.

was first opened.
The soloists with the choir will in
clude Alfred Best, tenor, who is now
on his way from Germany where he
has been singing in grand opera; Ut
ile Thomas Edward, soprano; Miss
Barnes, contralto, and H. 8. Ensign,
baritone. Prior to appearing at the
Seattle fair the big chorus sings at
the Baker theatre. Portland; the Ta
coma theatre and the Seattle concert

Evan Stephens, whose reputation, as
