Agent J. H. Kenney Is in receipt
of a circular letter from the general
baggage agent of the O. R. & N.,
P. J. Collins, relative to carrying ex
plosives in baggage, which says: .
"It has come .to the attention of
the Bureau of Explosives, American
Railway Association that many of
the users of explosives, and especial
ly miners who are foreigners and not
conversant with the requirements of
the law, are in the habit of transport
ing as baggage on passenger trains
articles that contain explosives.
"A case of this kind was recently
discovered when a valise was check
ed from Pittsburg, Pa. to Gary, W.
Va. " During transit the valise came
open and disclosed the presence of
an assortment of dangerous explo
sives. It was delivered to the rail
way company as baggage by two.

A great deal of interest centers in

teur league on next Sunday. ' No mat
ter which team that the baseball Gods
smile on there will qult'e a change in
the standing of the clubs. The two
leaders. Huntington and Union will
decide which is the undisputed leader,
at Union. There is very little doubt
but that La Grande and Cove, who are
tied for second place, will win their
games, which will make La Grande,
Cove and the loser in the Huntington
Union game tied for second place. The
greatest interest is centered in the
game at Union. La Grande will play
Elgin at Elgin while Cove will play
Baker City at Baker.
