At half past five yesterday after
noon at their home at 108 Greenwood
street, Rev, C. E.' Deal spoke the
words which made A. W. Nelson and
Floy E. Massee man and wife. In the
presence of only a few of their most
intimate friends and relatives, and
attended by Miss Lulu Gulling as
bridesmaid and Harvey Bay as beat
man, they, took their places to the
strains of Mendelssohn's T wedding
march, played "by Miss Laura Green.
lao impressive ring ceremony was
used. The bride was dressed In an
empire gown of white silk and carried
a magnificent boquet of brides roses
Miss Gulling wore a rose colored
mousBeline and carried a shower bo
quet of sweet peas.
The rooms were bowers of beauty
banked with roseB, carnations and
sweet peas and . lighted with colored
candles. Just preceding the cere
mony, Miss Laura Green sang "When
Song is' Sweet" In her usual pleasing
and effective manner, and after the
congratulations, MIbs Gertrude Ral
ston and Miss Ruth Bush served the
guests with light refreshments. The
presents were numerous and costly,
and showed the high esteem in which
the young people are held, '
Immediately following the recep
tion, the wedding party boarded auto-
mobiles and were driven to the west
bound train, where many friends were
gathered to wlBh Mr. Nelson and his
bride God speed on their wedding trip,
which win Include Portland, Astoria
and Seaside. They will return In
about a week and will be at home at
108 Greenwood street after July 1st.
For the past three years Mr. Nel
son has been city editor of the Ob-
aerver, and his ability, integrity and
Kood fellowship have endeared him to
all with whom he has associated. His
wife is the daughter of Mr. Herbert S
MaBsee of this city, and during her
residence in La Grande has made
admbtng friends of all her acqualn
taiices. The young folks, were school

the friendship, continued after their
