According to the verdict in the civil
suit of Lee vs. "Carroll. Mr. Carroll is
by virtue of a tax title which he se
cured, some years ago, owner of the
Xorth Powder lots Involved in the suit.
The jury were out several hours be
fore finding themselves able to agree?
Mr. Carroll paid the taxes on the
lots for some years, amounting to $3.
and afterward put . another small
amount into a barn. According to
the testimony of George Lee. 'the
plaintiff, he found that the lots had
been assessed to the. wrong party, and
that the tax title was no good.. ' He
purchased the lots from the rightful
owner, J. M. Buckley, of Spokane, and
then brought suit to eject the defen
dant It has not been - announced
whether the case will be appealed to
the supreme court or not
