Temporarily at least; refused a
nearbeer license by the council, which
last Wednesday evening took the mat
ter of Issuing a license to Cris Bellus,
the Greek restaurant proprietor, under
advlsment, that Individual took to
selling straight liquor, if charges pre
ferred by the city today prove true.
Bellus was arrested by Chief Ray
burn this morning on a warrant sworn
to by himself and charging violation of
the local option law, and after, ar
raignment before Recorder Cox, he
pleaded not guilty. His cash bond
was fixed at $150 which was liquidated.
The hearing will come up next Thurs
day unless further postponement is
made for cause. ,. , . , .. .
When Bellua made aplicatlon for a
nearbeer license, his request was
temporarily refused as the council was
inclined to limit the number to six.
