Fred G. Taylor leaves Wednesday or
Thursday of next week with his fam
ily for Lewiatoii, Utah, where he as
sumes the management of the largest
sugar factory owned by the Amalga
mated Sugar Company. ' His resig
nation' as manager of the La Grande
factory was accepted some time ago,
and he has only been waiting the full
setttlement of his business affairs
here before announcing the time of
bis departure.. His decision to leave
La Grande after three full years of
management of the local factory, was
reached only by reason of the fact
that he is bettering his position finan
cially and other wise. "I think more
of La Grande than other place on
earth," Bald Mr. Taylor today, "and
I leave it reluctantly. If it were not
for the fact that I am going to a
much better position, leaving La
Grande would be farthest from my
thoughts."
Commercially La Grande losses one
Baseball fana will have the oppor
tunity of seeing two games, today and
tomorrow on the Lincoln grounds. The
Union team came over this morning
considerably strengthened by the ac
cession of Mulvehill for catcher, and
the contests promise be rather ex
citing, although the local players ex
pect to win both games. The lineup
of both teams, in batting order, Is

The Union County Booster club loses
its president by Mr. Taylor's depart
ure, and the La Grande Commercial
club Its secretary. In the Commercial
club, Mr. Taylor did do the city the
greatest . good for he gave unlimited
time and attention to the betterment
of the club and was one of the men
who resurrected the dying club, and
put it on its feet as one of the lead
ing commercial organizations" of the
state.
