HAPPY IS AT
(
I
"Happy Harrison, the Human Os
trich." Is spieling for the free attrac
tions at the carnival. Want to know
who "Happy- is? Well, here Is a
slipping from the Seattle Times of
April 3, 1908. "Just because he ne
glected to fold properly a steel horse
shoe nail before swallowing it In the
course of one of his dally exhibitions
at a local vaudeville theatre. Henry
Harrison, otherwise known aa "Happy
Harrison, the Human Ostrich," is this
afternoon lying in a dangerous con
dition at the Pacific hospital. Harri
son was operated on this morning by
Dr. E. M. Rininger to save -his life
from the results of perforation of
the intestines that followed the stop
page of the horseshoe nail at the
Junction of the larger and smaller
intestines. The mishap was due to
the fact that Harrison carelessly bent
the nail in the shape of a fish-hook
instead of curling the point under the
iieaa aa was usual. The offending nail
was removed from "Happ's" interior
along with it the surgeon gathered up
eleven knife blades, five lath nails.
Bix small screws and three tacks thnt
were nestling together In the place
where the averago man has trouble in
digesting such innocuous articles of
diet as welsh rarebits and mince pie.
Harrison is a Hebrew, 88 years old.
nd says he was following the Human
Ostrich business for nearly 20 years.
That's who '"Happy Harrison" is.
J. D. MKfinnon yesterday purchas
ed the George Acklos 320 acre farm,
three miles north of thi3 city, for
which he paid $82,000, f 100 per acre.
This Is recognized as one of the best
bodies of land in this or any other
country' and Mr. AicKennon has had
his eye on this tract for some time.
When asked if it was bis intention
to cut it up into smaller farms, Mr.
McKennon replied that It is not his
intention; that he bought it to farm,
being close to the city, where he could
drive out to it within IO minutes. It
ia a flue Iwlv of lan.l and shows what
our real ehtate is worlh. to home peo
ple who know value.

Best Treatment for Colds.
"Moat ordinary colds will yield to
the simplest treatment." says the Chi
cago Tribune, "moderatlve laxatives,
hot foot baths, a free perspiration and
an avoidance of exposure to cold and
wet ofter treatment" While this
treatment Is simple, it requires con
siderable trouble, and the one adopt
'ng it must remain In doors for a
day or two, or a fresh cold is almost
sure to be contracted, and In many
instances pneumonia follows. Is it
not better to pin your faith to an old
reliable preparation like Chamber
tain's Cough Remedy, that is famous
for its cures of colds and can always
be depended upon? For saye by All
