invitations to the Mother's Day fir
vice next Sunday, to the mother of
every child in the Sunday schorl. In
addition to the Mother's Day sermon
by Rev. Seeman, pastor o( the cnur. iv
there will be special music ard other
features to add to the pleasure of the
service. The invitation, signed by the
teacher and Mr. Brenholts. read as
follows:

It Is doubtful if the ordinance per
taining to the regulation of neat-beer
joints will pass at the council meet
ing tonight. In addition to there be
ing some unwillingness on the part
of some of the couiicilmen In regard
to certain of its provisions, there Is
quite a sentiment in favor of holding
the matter in abeyance until the de
cision of the supreme court in tbe
case brought against the county by
Julius Itoesch is handed dun -.v. That
case is to be argued today, but it
is probable that the decision of the
bench will not be known much be
fore the end of the month. Council
men argue that it will be practically
useless to pass such an ordinance
when there is a chance that the re
sult of the June election will be nuli
fted In the near future.
The ordinance as introduced pro
vides that any place where nearbeer
or other non-intoxicating beverages
are sold shall contain but one room,
with no screens or other obstructions
to a clear view of the whole room
from the outside, and that there shall
be 110 communication with any other
room: that the lower part of the win
dows, to consist of not more than one
pane in thickness, shall pot be more
than :t and feet above the side
walk: that no minors shall be al
lowed in the places at all: that they
shall be closed at 12 o'clock every
week day night, and shall so remain
until ." o'clock in the morning; that
on Saturday night they shall be clos
ed at midnight and remain closed un
til .Monday morning. All such placet;
