ently ordered by the Oregon Railroad
Commission, are good both ways ac
cording to a letter sent out by Oswald
West In answer to Inquiries coming
from Eastern Oregon on this subject.
The first impression was that 'only
Portlanrl-to-La Grande rates were
changed,, but ,'Mr. West says this is a
misiHke. To Illustrate the assertion:
The old : rate' from Pendleton to La
Grande was $1.25, while the new ono
is $1.10. A proportionate reduction
has been made from Portland to La
Grande. Many La Grande shippers
will be elated at this interpretation of
