At a meeting of the board of direct
ors o fthe Oregon Reservoir company
late yesterday afternoon. Fred J.
Holmes was elected president of the
corporation; George Stoddard vice:
F. L. Meyers treasurer, and George
Tm Cleaver temporary secretary.
After the election of officers the
.meeting was adjourned until Mon
day, when the details for prosecuting
the work with all possible speed will
be taken up and discussed. Many
things will come up before the Mon
day meeting, and at that time a defi
nite course of procedure will be de
cided upon. This much is known,
"however, that every effort will be
made to drive the project forward.
All the stock necessary for success
ful prosecution of the work has been
subscribed, and although it Is prob
able that another $5000 will be taken
up in the near future, no anxiety is
felt about the remainder of the $100,
000. That will be kept for the benefit
of farmers who desire a voice in the
management of the corporation as
well as water irrigation.
Contracting firms have already sent
representatives to La Grande to get
in touch with the enterprise. Among
those may be mentioned the Ameri
can Light and Water company, and
the L. D. Campbell Co. The latter
firm had charge of all concrete work
on the North Bank road. The others
will install the Beaver Creek water
system.

examination they were given a meal

benthal cashed checks on the United

checks; one was on the name of Pay

for $2,640. The other bore the forged
