When the umpire announces the
pitcher prior to commencement of
game, the player must pitch until the
first batsman has elthr been put out
or has reached first base.
A substitute pitcher must pitch un
til the man at hat. when the pitcher
takes his position, has either been
put out or reaches first base.
In case of interference with a liemer
or batsman, the ball Is not In play
until the pitcher, standing In his posi
tion, holds it, and the umpire calls
"play."
A batted ball that touches the per
son of the umpire or a player "while
on or over fair graunds" is a fair hit;
and a batted bail that toucnea me per
son of the umpire or of a player
while on or over foul ground" la a
foul hit.
Hereafter in case of a player's or
manager's ejectment from the game
by the umpire such player ia out of
both game and grounds.. He must
either go to the club house or leave
the grounds entirely, under jiwiulty
of forfeiture of the game by the um
pire. . This rule shall he mandatory
in the major leagues but in minor
leagues a fining system may be substi
tuted. .
Hereafter any ground rule must he
acceptable to the captain of the visit
ing team, and if objectionable to said
visiting captain the umpire has the
