T. J. Apperson. commander of the
Department of Oregon. G. A. R., is in
La Grande today on a visit to. the
Post here. Mr. Apperson is a pioneer
if the state and Baw service in the
'!rst Oregon Cavalry under Colonel
'reorge B. Currey. He visited a part
of the day with Henry Allen, who is
here as the guest of his brother,
leorge Allen. Mr. Allen is also a
iromincnt figure in G. A. R. councils,
having crossed the continent several
imes as delegate to national encamp
ments.
Mr. Apperson Is a regent of the
Oregon Agricultural College. ,
This afternoon at 1:30 Mr. Apper
son addressed the joint gathering or
.lie G. A. R. and the W. R. C. His
talk was nothing less than inspiring
to his hearers, and they went away
well pleased indeed with the visit of
their department commander.
He told them of the conditions of
posts in Oregon and a brief way of
what the national department is do
ing. He pleaded with them to devote
united attention to the welfare of the
local post.

White is the man who will review Odd
fellowship and make the special ad
dress. An urgent invitation has been ex
tended to 'members of the La Grande
lodge of Oddfellows to participate in
this dedication
