SONG THIS EVENING
Few eventfc of local color have tar
lied with them more attention than
the La Grande band concert to be
irlveu tonight at the Steward opera
house. The concert has been loudly
touted, and not without just cause
for It la a safe assertion to affirm that
no band that ever tarried La Grande's
name could handle dillicult instrumen
tal like the present one. Conductor
Seiak lias been extremely industrious
and lie has been met with liberal
support from the band members.
Some Idea of the capabilities of the
organization has been gaining publi
city through the numerous band prac
tices, but the band has not appeared
in- piib'ic with anything like the
skill which it will tonight.
Seats went on sale yesterday morn
ing and in addition to those purchased
o ntbe outside, represent a quite large
door receipts. The band will convert
the money received tonight to a new
uniform fund.
Hut instrumental music will not
reign supreme alone this evening for
there will be vocal solos to vary the
entertainment. It will not be a mat
ter of public generosity, by any means
to attend thl sconcert. as full value
will be received for the amount expended.
