IM ACTIOS
The annual convention of the Antl-
'fine Hi l uiilunil April it U Prior to
the state' convention, probably April
22; the Anti-Saloon organizations of
eastern Oregon will hold a convention
In Pendleton. The purpose of this hit
ter meeting is to determine the senti
ment regarding the presentation to the
people In 1010 of a prohibitory amend
ment to the constitution. It is alto
gether probable that this action will
be taken.
The churches of La Grande will send
two .delegates each to the Pendleton
convention.

New York. March 25. The Intercol
legiate football rules committee meets
tonlKht at the Murray Hill hotel and
will also convene tomorrow evening.
Only minor changes in hie present
rules are expected t? be made. One
of the officials said:
"The forward puns worked well un
der the regulations imposed under It
last fall, and I anticipate no modifica
tion of the ruling concerning that feat
ure. There has been complaint against
the ruling requiring a gain of 10 yards
for every three downs,' especially by
the stronger team?, which have found
it hard to make the distance against
an eleven clearly their Inferiors. Al
most every one admits, however, that
the 10-yard rule has given Die teams
from the smaller colleges a chance
against their larger rivals and that if
a great point In lis favor.
limit Junction Disappear.
Hunts Junction Is no more, says the
Pendleton East Ore.gonian. On the
spot where the historic station for
merly stood the sand now blows and
there is no one to stop its blowing.
With one fell swoop a Northern
Pacific train 'picked up the Hunts de
pot yesterday and carried it bodily to
Attalia, the building being carried
down on two flatoain. At Atlalla the
depot Is now loeateil anil It will be re
fitted for use.
Hunts Junction was abandoned be
cause a station there was no longer
needed. Attalia Junction Is the point
where the Northern Pacific track
from Walla Walla Joins with the line
from this 'Vll.y to Pasco, while Hunts
Junction was really no Junction at all.
In early days it. whs a Junction point
for the old Hunt road from Walla
Walla to Pendleton. But when the
Northern Pacific secured the road At
talia was male the junction and
Hunts Is how a station of the past.
