Annual Affair Will . He Conducted
" Without CmmIi rrlacs. ;
Already the officers of the Elgin
Cemetery association are making pre
liminary, arrangements for the Third
Annual Flower carnival, which will be
held about September 1, says the El
gin Recorder today. This year more
attention will be given to the growing
and displaying of cut flowers and the
officers of the organization are urging
the ladles of Elgin and surrounding
country to begin at once the securing
of seeds for this particular line.
Elgin's annual flower carnival has
grown to be one of the most Important
annual events of the city and the
coming carnival promises to eclipse all
former events, both as to the quantity
and quality of flowers exhibited. The
matter of giving premiums will be
done away with this year, and only
neatly printed certificates of award
will be issued. The matter of giving
cash prizes and premiums has occa
sioned some little dissatisfaction dur
ing the past years,, and It Is deemed
best to do away with that method.
