Introduced by Mr. Richardson, and read first time January 20. A bill for an act to provide for setralghtenlng the channel of the Grande Ronde river In Union county, Oregon', and to appropriate money therefor. Whereas, the Grande Ronde river where It enters the Grande Ronde valley near 1a Grande, In Union coun ty, Oregon, during Its flood season Is a raging torrent and very destructive to property along Its banks, and Whereas, this property destruction can be prevented and the danger mln Imlzed by straightening the channel of said river from the point where said stream enters the valley at what Is railed Oro Dell In Union county. Ore son, to what Is known as the Peach bridge, about six miles east of said Oro Dell on said river; therefore Be it enacted by the People of the Slate of Oregon: Be It enacted by the Legislative As sembly of the State of Oregon: Section 1. That there be, and Is hereby appropriated out of the gen eral funds of the state of Oregon, not otherwise appropriated, the sum of $15,000, to be used In straightening the channel of the Grande Ronde river from Oro Dell,' to a point at what is known as the Peach bridge on said river, about six miles east of Oro Dell In the Grande Ronde valley, Union county, Oregon.
