The Lu Grande Merchants' Protec
tive association Is now a part and pur
eel of the Oregon State association, as
the result of efforts extended by lo
cal delegates to the state convention
at Portland, and who arrived home
yesterday evening. They I ft Port

later reached La Giande. This In
stance reflects the condition of traffic
due to the storms.
The convention was rich with ma:tj
things of deep interest to ha Grande
merchants. The speeches were in-'
slructlve, covering a wide range. The
delegates will report in full to the
neM meeting of the local association.
The chief item of Interest In connec
tion with the convention was the final
affiliation of the local association with
that of the utate body, which gives lo
cal merchants all the protection ae
corded any of the bodies in the state.
