rived Sunday night for a visit with
home folks.
Miss Stella Hunter returned Sunday
night to Seattle, where she will resume
work In the university.
Island City was quite busy socially
during the holidays, many dinners a' d
parties being given.
Miss JchhIo Foster's leap year party
given In honor of the Misses Stella
Hunter and Netta Kiddle, was one of
the pleasunt affairs of vacation. The
young ladies did the honors as escorts
In a most credltuble manner,-with the
one exception of being late, causing
the young men considerable anxiety
until the fair ones appeared. One of
the features of the evening were the
written descriptions of the young la
dles bV the young gentlemen, which
were read aloud, to the amusement of
all. Music ws dispensed throughout
the evening: and un elaborate lunch
was served, thus ending a very enjoy-
uhle holiday party.

In the east part of town, which was
one of the most successful social events
of the holKiay season, Music, guessing
contests and the selling of bachelors
before the old year passed Into his
tory, were home of the enjoyable feat
ures of the evening's entertainment.
Dainty refreshments were served by
hostess and .even after the new year
had been ushered in, the guests lin
gered, so delightful hud been the oc
casion of their meeting together.
Mrs. Henry Spence of Wallowa, was
!ire sevnial days during the holidays
with old acquaintances and friends.
There were two very pleasant skat
ing parties given by the young people
through vacation. This excellent rec
reatlon has mitvy devotees in our lit
tle town.
Miss Surah Chain returned from
Union Sunday, where she spent the
Christmas vacation with Mrs. Frank
Hldwell.
