Surveyors of the reclamation service
MVe begun work here on the Wapato
Irrigation project Several men from
ihe surveying camps of the. Tleton
project have within the week been
brought here for an Indefinite stny,
and expect to be at work In this sec
tion all winter.
The work to be d.me now Is pre
liminary examination of the surface
of the country, a sort of topographical
survey, and will be followed by the
preliminary surveys of the project
proper.' The reclamation service has
opened an office In the Williams build
ing, the office force having been re
criuted from projects us far east as
the Dekotas. ' .' .
The Wapato project is similar to
the Sunnyside project and will, if
present plana are followed, embrace
a tract of 150,000 acres on the south
west side of the Taklma river, extend
ing west to the foothills and south to
Alfalfa and low.
The main canal will le many miles
In extent and will take water from
the Yakima river. The intake will be
at a point Just below the Union gap.

To All Whom It May Concern:
Whereas. pon a proper accounting
by the receiver heretofore appointed
to collect the assets of "The Farmora
& Traders' National Bank of La
Grande, Oregon, and upon a valuation
of the uncollected assets remaining in
his hands, It appears to my satisfac
tion that in order to pay the debts of
such association it Is necessary to en
force the Individual liability of the
stockholders therefore to the extent
hereinafter mentioned, as prescribed
by Sections 6161 and 62 J 4 of the Re
vised Statute of the United State,
Now. therefore, by virtue of the au
thority vested in me by law, I do here
by make an assessment and requisi
tion upon the shareholders of the
said "The Far-wrs & Traders- Na
tional Bank of La Grande." for Sixty
Thousand Dollars, to be paid by them
ratably, on or before the nineteenth
day of December, 1908; arid I hereby
make demand upon each and every
one of them for One Hundred Dollars
upon each and every share of the cap
ital stock of said association held or
owned by them, respectively, at the
time of Its failure; and I hereby direct
Walter Neldner. the receiver heretofore
appointed, to take all necessary pro
ceedings, by suit or otherwise, to en
force to that extent the said individual
liability of the said shareholder,

set my hand and caused my seal of of
fice to be affixed to these presents, at
the City of Washington. In the Dis
trict of Columbia, this nineteenth day
of November A. D 1908.
