i Fanlana" Tonight.
This merry tuneful comic
opera,
'hloh has delighted audiences In the
east for the past four years, will be
the offering at the Steward Wciines
day night. So .much has been written
In eastern papers and magazines about
this Shubert production of 'Fantana"
that there Is little doubt but that a ca
pacity house will greet its presenta
tion In La Grande.
The company is undoubtedly an ex
cellent one. for it Is headed by many
clever artists who are well known
here, Including Teddy Webb, of "The
Alaskan," remembered for her excel
lnt work In "The Otngrrbread Man"
and many other clever people,
i The plot of "Fantana" la non-essential
to its enjoyment, although the
story has really more thread to it than
is usually found in moat musical com
edies, ' ' -..!;:;!:
In Montrey, In the Mikado's realm
und (in shipboard the mirthful plot of
"Fantana" has Its betting. Ditties in
Del ' Monte, carols in kimonos and
rollicking' songs of 'the sea furnish a
variety of musical atmosphere that
precludes any possibility of monotony.
The three scenes are full of action and
one amusing situation" .. Is ' followed
quickly by another. What really at
tracts is the jingle of the music, the
smart fashion, of Its 'production and
the fascinating antics of t the comedi
ans. Teddy Webb, with his inimitable
line of cokneyism, as Hawkins the
valet,' has evidently1 found an ' ex
tremely congenial part to play. '
In short to those who enjoy a right
good laugh and a clever, picturesque
performance, "Fanta'na" Is highly rec
ommended. . '
The Scenic.
Tonight patrons of the Scenic will
have an opportunity to Bee the Irish
and Dutch In new turns. This come
dy team has won the admiration of
Scenic patrons to such an extont that
the team la styled the second Walters
and Murray team. Their laugh-mak
ing abilities are such that those who
have seen them once simply cannot
resist the desire to 1nugh, when the
merry team first appears on the stage.
The pictures for tonight are new and
fully up to the average. You will have
time to visit the Scenic this evening
and see the entire show before the
opera begins at the Steward.
The Pastime.
The program at the Pastime this
evening will be the same as last night.
T'.v.' pictures are all good, and last
nlirht (,'iree large audiences expressed
tUti. -4 reclatlon of them by long and
arty applause. , '
The Illustrated songs will be
changed this evening and Mr. Ferrln
has something special for the patrons
of the Pastime. Remember, the Pas
time theater Is open every night ex
cepting Sunday. ,
