Portland may lose Tom Klehani
on, Its present secretary of the Ore
gon Development league. The city ol
Denver has offered him a salary of
$10,000 per year. He has It under
' consideration. - It Is quite likely that
Portland will make an attempt to keep
him. Tom Richardson has done more
. for Oregon than any one mart who
. h.-ld a similar position, it was
T,.m Richardson who broadened
out
Portland, whereby It gave s.ome
little
tlon to the want of
the
other portions of the state, that was
vitally necessary to Portland's growth.
Today there If hot a hamlet In this
great state that Is not proud of Port
land's growth and wishes It to con
tinue. What helps Portland helps the
state. Any development in any por
tion of the state helps Portland. No
.longer Is the term "Portland h..g
acen In print. If Tom Richardson had
accomplished nothing more, his mis-
Ion In our state would have been we!,
worth his salary, but that Is only an
incident to his h'.bors. Wo hope he
vlll continue at the. head of the boost

after the Yukon-Alaska exposition.
Oregon under proper management wll:
