With the arrival In Island City this
morning of the first carload of lum
ber of the new Island Citv flourinir
mill, carpenters went to work with a

rebuilding the destroyed mill with
one that is even better than its pre
decessor. Carpenters have been wait
ing for the arrival of the lumber ami,
somehow, sunshine marked Its appear
ance. Therefore Itwas not an hour
from the time of arrival of the car
until the hammers and saws weve
j working. ' . .
' The structure will be almost a re
production of the burned mill. The
main building Is 90x90, while the ele
vator will be 60 feet high. The struc
ture Itself, however, will be throe
stories high, over a basement Cov-
erlng the roof and sheeting the walls
will be corrugated iron, similar to
that on the old one. When the entire
structure stands complete, the flag
pole will tower 75 feet In the air.

time in the history that Wallowa
county has been credited with a place
on the express map. Packages can
now be sent to- these points "collect."

ago, the interstate commerce commis
