Patrons of the Scenic, were some
what disappointed last evening with
the film entitled "Jerusalem," but their
disappointment was not equal to that
of Manager Gardinler. Mr. Gardinler
had been led to believe by the film
makers that he had reeclved something
far aobve the average and that ' he
was giving his patrons a set of pictures
which would result in a real treat
for them. Instead, the pictures were
Just ordinary. Jerusalem could not
be considered rank, but It was not up
to the high expectations which Jlhe
makers had established for It through
their advertising. Theyredeemlng fea
ture of the program was the beautiful
tlon of the nursery tale, "Beau
ty and the Beast." This was a truly
.eat film and one which should have
been announced as the feature bill,
This film Is colored throughout and
has, many transformation scenes. In
fact tt Is us beautiful a production as
has been shown In this city. The
comic tn, "Hurry, Please," is one
which furnishes enough amusement
for two shows and at the same time
makes the audience wonder how It Is
done. When you see It this evening
try and figure out how "the actors were
made Jo "Hurry up." Mr. Cecil Sum
mers will furnish a monologue turn
this evening. There Is enough for the
money even if the spectators do not
value the Jerusalem a all.
' The Pastime. ,
'The broken macnlfce which prevent
ed the Pastime from giving a perform
ance last evening, has been replaced
with a new one and this evening the
show will continue as of old.- The pro
gram will be the same as advertised
for last evening. . The feature bill is
"Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots." This
is a handsomely colored film and one
which Is historically correct. The
court room scene and the execution
scene are both graphlcly shown, . The
escape of the beautiful queen and later
the meeting with her cousin, Queen
Elizabeth, two historical Incidents are
both shown. There are other good
numbers, but this is without doubt the
best historical film seen In La Grande
for some time.
