The press agent of the Al G. Barnes
trained animal .show, relates an ac
count of his visit to Butte, Mont,
eight omnths ago. I was lnf a hard
ware store securing some needed re
pairs for a trunk, when the proprietor
of the store, who was not aware that
I was connected with the show, said
to a customer: "Well, I suppose, you
are going to the theater tonight. Mr.
E , and see the animal show?" "No;
moiSt emphatically no," was his quick
reply. "Why not?" asked the mer
chant "Well," he said, "I am 68
years of age, and visited .theaters for
over 40 years; but that's all past, now.
I am too old and don't' care anything
about shows." Just about that time
the funny old clown and Maud, the
kicking mule; the Arabian ponies, the
baby elephants and other anlnials
passed by the place in parade. "My,"
he said, "but those are mighty fine
ponies; and, goodness me, look at that
mnu binb that nlil wnirnn to smithers
Must b quite an outfit." That night
flee purchasing tickets for himself and
four grandchildren. The agent, who
recognised him, said: "Well, I thought
you were not going to the show to
night." His quick reply was, "Well.
I wouldn't have come, but had to bring
the children." That night was the
event of hia life, and he was still smil
ing as he homeward went. We fully
expect to se lots of the old folks at
the show, even if he has to lay the
blame on the children. The animal
show appears here at the opera house
Monday and Tuesday nights, Decem
ber 7 and 8. The admission will be
75c, 50c and 85c.
